Causeway Bay

After the Studio Ghibli Exhibition, we ventured over to Causeway Bay, one of Hong Kong’s major shopping districts.

However as Ryan doesn’t enjoy shopping, we explored outdoors, taking photos and videos of our travels.

We stopped off at Times Square to see what their latest display was…

In June, they had a Monsters Inc garden to celebrate the new Monsters University film. Large models of the characters were surrounded by large crowds.

Unfortunately I couldn’t get any decent photos of Mike and Sulley without getting half of Hong Kong in the shots! 😦

However Ryan was very pleased to see the giant Gundam displays that had taken its place! 😀

We continued our journey around Causeway Bay with its bright lights, trams and designer shops.

On both of our visits to the area, we saw this old man selling toy dinosaurs and things that he had appeared to have made out of plasticine and fashioned onto wooden sticks on the side of the road…

We also came across ‘Homeless’ a 3-level shop stocking quirky and creative bits and bobs, which has inspired us to make some decorations for our flat – still work in progress though!

I particularly enjoyed this poster, cards made out of pencil shavings and a round mirror decorated with cassettes!

When it came to dinner, we decided to try Ajisen Ramen, as my mum had recommended it.

Ry went for the BBQ Pork Ramen (the toppings came separately, but he had put everything in his bowl before I could get a picture!) Unfortunately he found the portion size lacking, the presentation was poor as and didn’t like having the toppings separately.

He gave it 5/10.

I went for the Fried Kimchi and Pork Rice served in a Hot Stone Pot.

I enjoyed my meal, especially the side of hoisin sauce.

After dinner, we went for a stroll around Central before heading home.

I love photographing things that you’ve never come across before in familiar places.

I loved this alternative Snow White sticker, twisty market lights and the beautiful shutter that we wouldn’t have seen if we’d been there in the daytime!

Seize the day! 😀
