Meeting early at Admiralty, we popped on the bus over to Ocean Park – an awesome combination of animals, aquariums and a theme park, situated on Hong Kong Island.
As soon as we entered the park, we were greeted by an enthusiastic young man by the name of Thor. He told us that he made the thunder come the previous day. But then informed us that he was only joking.
Anyway, Thor was a photographer for Ocean Park, so he took some photos of us outside the Grand Aquarium. After some conventional-looking photos, he took photos of us pretending to hold babies and another with our fists on our heads as pandas. In the photos that they’d printed off, they had photo-shopped in koala bears, parrots and pandas, which were pretty cute but extortionately expensive so we gave them a miss!
Thor offered to take photos on our cameras for us, as he said that he didn’t care if we bought their photos or not, and wished us a great day – what a lovely chap! 😀
After queuing for a little while, we made it into the Grand Aquarium!
Unfortunately it was pretty busy and very loud, but it was cool to see the fish and the sharks.
We made our way over to the panda enclosure, passing a Chinese alligator on the way…
We saw some some otters and lots of strange looking goldfish!
I need one of these bad-boys in my life.
The sea lion show was amazing!
We stopped off for lunch at the ‘Old Hong Kong’ area, where I had some fried noodles and rice rolls (also known as cheung-fun) covered in soy, chili, peanut and hoisin sauce – yum!
Sarah’s first time on a cable car!
We had a look around ‘The Arctic’ and saw some penguins, seals and walruses!
Afterwards, we wandered around the theme park…
…and waited in line for The Rapids, an awesome water ride, perfect to cool us down for a few minutes! :p
I took Sarah on a kid’s rollercoaster, called the Arctic Express, while Luke went on some real rollercoasters! She just couldn’t wait to get on…
It was hilarious riding with Sarah as she screamed all the way around while I almost pissed myself laughing; I couldn’t stop laughing for ages after we got off!
Luke and I went on again on the single riders queue (which gets you on the ride way quicker than the usual queue if you don’t mid sitting next to a stranger) to let Sarah recover! :p
After a ride on the dodgems and a little more wandering around the park, we watched the amazing fire and fountain show at the end of the day.
Luke took some awesome photos of it! 😀
Here’s a little homemade video that Ryan and I made last month, with a clip of the show at the end 🙂
After Ocean Park, we made our way back to TST for dinner at Outback Steakhouse.
We were all so hungry that I didn’t get a chance to take a photo of the food, but if you’re interested, we had; Kookaburra wings, fried prawns, massive bacon cheeseburgers, ribs and a brownie to share!
All washed down with lush cocktails and beer! 😀
