November started in the same way as October: with a visit to the gorgeous Palm Beach, situated at Cheung Sha on Lantau Island.
Big thanks to Jess for introducing us to our new favourite beach in Hong Kong!
It certainly beats Gold Coast, with its shingly sand and litter!
We made our way to Tung Chung and caught the number 11 bus, with a 20 minute journey which mainly consisted of going up an insanely steep hill. Following Jess’s instructions, we stopped as soon as we saw the orange-roofed villas. Unsurprisingly Ryan and I had never come across this beach before as it’s essentially hidden along a main road!
After seeing this sign, we popped into the unknown…
Are you sure there’s a beach down here?!
A short walk later, we were greeted by this relaxing lounge area.
They had even decorated for Halloween! 😀
As Palm Beach is a water sports centre, popular with extreme sea-sports and competitions, there is equipment for windsurfing, surfing, kayaking, skim boarding, kite surfing, body boarding, stand-up-paddle-boarding and more!
It is also home to an awesome Tipi Village, offering accommodation for personal retreats or group outings.
They are also available as a party venue, how cool does that sound?!
Cheung Sha translates into ‘Long Sand,’ which was apt, as the scenic coastline stretches on for 6 kilometres!
Hey there little one!
The sea was still warm in November!
So we rented out a cheap body-board and had a paddle around 🙂
As the sun began to set, we walked along the shore…
This was the most exciting part of the day for me, as it was peak clam-picking time!
I probably looked like a crazy person, running around with my carrier bag, but luckily the beach was pretty empty! 🙂
How beautiful is that sunset?!
This photo looks unreal! I promise you I haven’t even tried to edit this!
We found a giant clam in October…
…and lots of little ones this time! I am the ultimate hunter-gatherer 😉
